Jeremy Jauncey, founder and CEO of Beautiful Destinations, lists down his top 10 travel picks for 2019; find out his reasons and why you need to book your ticket now.
UNITED KINGDOM
Having grown up in the United Kingdom, the English countryside holds a special place in my heart. Whenever I go back to visit, I am beset by wonderful memories of childhood and adventure. It’s on our list for 2019 because it’s absolutely beautiful and quaint. You must visit. As adults, we try and escape to the Soho Farmhouse whenever possible to rejuvenate and relax.
FINLAND
One of the many reasons to visit this chilly yet magical land is to witness the incredible spectacle of the northern lights, frequently seen painting themselves across the Arctic sky—particularly in Lapland, where they’re visible roughly 200 days a year. Those wanting to witness the aurorae often turn to winter sports like snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and sled dog touring, all of which allow visitors to get somewhere they can spend a night gazing at the sky, and maybe even get in a good workout at the same time.
CARTAGENA
Colombia is one of South America’s most vibrant countries. It’s a destination that is synonymous with not only the lushness and diversity of its landscape but of its community as well. Most of all, it is a place that is rich in culture, and one whose people will immediately welcome you with open arms. (photo: @cory.s.martin)
EGYPT
Home to millennia-old monuments, the ancient city of Cairo is one that perpetually buzzes with excitement. Egypt is high on travellers’ lists for many reasons: its deep-rooted history, rich culture, iconic landmarks, and, now, the long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in 2020.
