MERCEDES-BENZ BEGAN WRITING the story of its S -Class luxury saloons in 1972. And what a tale it is with the car becoming the German marque's top-of-the-line model, garnering numerous awards such as World Luxury Car at the 2014 World Car Awards. Even jaded journos are effusive in their praise of the S -Class, with some dubbing it the "best car in the world".
What's not to love? The car is stunning with its sporty and contemporary design that also encompasses comfort and luxury.
Not to mention that for Mercedes, the S-Class is the flagship that debuted innovations the likes of drivetrain technologies, interior features and safety systems. Now in its sixth generation, the saloon, which was released in 2013, has sold well over 300,000 vehicles.
"The development of the new S-Class was extremely extensive," reveals Ola Hallenius, who is responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Car Development on the Board of Daimler AG.
