The annual event Natya Darshan in Chennai pulsates in the resplendent coming together of art and culture
It was an initiative started to broaden the discourse around dance in India and beyond. The advisors for Natya Darshan are eminent gurus, Padma awardees, Dr Sudharani Raghupathy and Chitra Visveswaran. The task of conducting, curating and co-creating the mega conference was given to architect, designer, business person and classical dancer, Krithika Subrahmanian.
Krithika drew on her training and performance experience as a classical dancer, her sense of visual aesthetic and presentations as a designer and an architect and her organisational skills as a business person to conduct a conference with great style and grandeur.
Trained in the pure lineage of the Thanjavur Bani of Bharatnatyam under the tutelage of Dr Sudharani Raghupathy since the age of seven, Krithika has performed at prominent venues and festivals around the world, both solo and group. She continues to produce mega shows and performs the widely acclaimed choreographic works NaMaargam, Sri, Shringaram, Antaram, Swappanam, Black Box, Jagriti and Treasure of Thanjavur as well as the traditional Margam. She is a reputed entrepreneur, heading a group of successful companies, Transform, Code, Decode and Sreshta Leisure (Pvt Ltd) and Svatma, a classic boutique luxury hotel in Thanjavur.
