NAHA’2017 nalist in the Hair Colour category, Rossa Jurenas is the North American Color Director for Schwarzkopf Professional. She also works along side the global team of the brand on the Essential Looks Collections and have been part of the team for the past few years
How did you get interested in hairdressing?
Hairdressing was a career that I always admired when I was a young child. I remember when someone would ask ‘what do you want to be when you grow up, I always said a make-up artist or a hairdresser’.
What courses have you done and from where?
In my opinion, education is the key to success! I am always training myself in the art of hair, either through on-line education or taking classes. I have explored classes from industry icons like Vivienne Mackinder and Vidal Sassoon. I am the North American Color Director for Schwarzkopf Professional; in which I am always keeping up with trends and researching the next fashion trends.
Did you have a mentor?
I have had a few mentors on my journey throughout the years. Now, I find inspiration and passion from the classes that I teach and shows that I do. I always meet inspiring people in my journey push me to newer heights without realising themselves! It is all about keeping your eyes open and accepting new challenges!
What were the challenges that you faced? How did you overcome them?
I am never happy with my work. I am my worst critic. Every time I create a collection and shoot it. I like it but I criticise it, thinking I could have done better! I look at this, as my own push to be relevant and achieve more!
What are your current role and responsibilities?
I am the North American Color Director For Schwarzkopf Professional. As well, I work along side the Global team for Schwarzkopf Professional on the Essential Looks Collections and have been part of that team for the past few years. Love to see my work on a global level!
