A couple of decades ago pollution of our planet was minimal. Except for a few areas where industries existed most areas around the world were relatively pollution-free. However, ever since plastics, personal transportation, takeaway items, shopping malls, etc., increased pollution has skyrocketed. Today, even the oceans are highly polluted and killing millions of marine life. If left uncontrolled the entire planet will be decimated in a couple of decades. As a global citizen it is now every person’s responsibility to ensure pollution does not kill and ruin our planet. The solution to this is to become a responsible citizen. Here are some ways to do it,
Avoid wasting water – Manufacturing clean water is an expensive business. Secondly, freshwater resources around the world are limited. Experts predict the future wars will be about water. Hence, you should save water wherever possible. Simple tasks like turning off the taps, using mugs and buckets instead of a shower, knowing how much water is sufficient to water the lawn, etc., all demonstrate a more responsible consumer attitude.
Buy less plastic - This isn’t always easy because everything we buy in shops is packaged in plastic. However, there are many items you can buy without wasting plastic with some simple shopping changes. For example, shops will give plastic carry bags if you buy vegetables. But if you carry your own cloth bag you can use the same bag several times for years and avoid using plastic.
