Terence and Nelson Loh, cousins and founders of integrated medical group Novena Global Lifecare, are setting their sights on fostering equal educational opportunities for all

Men On A Mission

For the first charity gala they have ever organised in their lives in December last year, cousins Terence (pictured left) and Nelson Loh scored a coup—they convinced former US president Barack Obama to be the event’s VIP speaker. The duo behind Novena Global Lifecare, one of the region’s largest integrated medical healthcare and aesthetic groups, knew they had to raise the bar to get donors to support their cause of empowering individuals by offering equal opportunities through education.

“We wanted the event to be different and knew that our guest speaker shouldn’t follow a stereotype of the people who typically speak [at such events],” says Nelson, on the inaugural Education Benefit Gala. Held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Lohs’ medical business—a subsidiary of private investment company Dorr Group, which they founded—the gala was a way for them to convey their belief that education can have a strong impact on the underprivileged.

“I always say, aim high for the stars. If you miss, you’ll end up on the moon. So why not try for Obama since one of his main campaign policies was to provide affordable healthcare to all? This is in line with what Novena Global Lifecare is about,” Nelson adds.
