Without a doubt, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is the best foldable phone to date, and it finally looks like a device you would buy. Samsung is going all out to take foldable phones from a passing gimmick to a serious contender for some of the best phones you can buy.

To make the Fold 3 a viable option when considering a new purchase or upgrade it needs to compete on price. Well the good news here is that the Fold 3 is around £200 cheaper than its predecessor, the Fold 2. The not-so-good news is that it still has a hefty four-figure price tag that will likely be too rich for the average consumer. But if you are looking to get ahead of the pack, you do get 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage for your money.

Price aside, what’s the build and the design like? When Samsung released the original Galaxy Z Fold, a lot of people had problems with the phone being flimsy and fragile. A flaw that the public hasn’t forgotten about. So Samsung has been on a mission ever since to change people’s perceptions and the Fold 3 – its toughest folding phone yet – could be the model that makes that happen.

The latest foldable model is made from Armor Aluminium, which Samsung claims is 10% more durable than the materials used in the Fold 2. The switch-up in materials also means it’s now about 10g lighter than before. Don’t let that fool you though, it still feels significantly heavier than a standard smartphone. Plus, it measures 67.1 x 158.2 x 16mm so expect it to add a significant amount of bulk to the pocket you pack it in.
