Breathtaking, snow-capped Himalayas greet as you land at Ladakh, which is literally the roof of the world. A quaint break of inhabited cold desert between Tibet and Pakistan, this region offers you vacation goodies unmatched in India. It is for the adventure enthusiast, the nature lover, the biker as well as the trekker. So say ‘Julay’ which is the traditional Ladakhi greeting and read on.
Reaching there easy
Reaching Leh-Ladakh is a breeze with both air and land routes open most of the year. Most major airlines have flights from Delhi to Leh. Rail here is a no go but for the trailblazers there is the famous bike or road circuit of Delhi-Manali-Leh, that’s often on everyone’s bucket-list. For travelling in and around Leh-Ladakh there are bus, car and bike rentals which are reasonably priced and can be sourced through government run or private establishments.
A word to the wise is that permits and permissions don’t matter in most areas of Ladakh for Indians but travel to restricted areas like Tsokar, Pangong Lake etc require permits of District Magistrate through travel agents.
