You don’t exist if you are not on Google. That is what internet geeks tell us. For cricket fans, there requires a slight paraphrasing of that sentence. You’re not a cricket fan if you’re not reading Sehwag’s tweets.

Sehwag’s tweets, or bats? You may ask. Well. Welcome Rip Van Winkle. Welcome to the new avatar of the former Indian opener and compulsive four-hitter. Virender Sehwag is as much a phenomenon in twitter as he was in the batting crease. He is no longer the Nawab of Najafgarh – he has become the Nawab of Twitter. Each of his tweets is being met with the roaring applause of Re-tweets and Likes. Twitter has become a batting pitch of 140-character long and Sehwag is just seeing words and tweeting it in plain Hinglish.

SEHWAG ON TWITTER

Twitter, for those rare ones among you who do not know, is a social media website (or you can call it a micro-blogging website) where you can key in your thoughts. There is only one condition: the number of characters must not exceed 140 characters in a single tweet. Sehwag is unleashing jokes after jokes at such a rate that he looks unstoppable. The number of his followers (followers are those who opt to read all the tweets of a person) has crossed six million.

Like good poetry, Sehwag’s tweets are hard to translate. The meaning and the spirit will be lost in translation. The clever word play in Hindi that you can see in this tweet is his hallmark. It is also evident in his tweet about Sakshi Malik, who won the silver medal in Rio.
