Brian Flores the real MVP of this team
Dolphin Digest|February 2020
Let’s be clear about this: The most significant thing to come out of this season for the Miami Dolphins wasn’t the five wins in the final nine games, or the emergence of DeVante Parker or even that mega season-ending upset over the Patriots in New England.

Brian Flores the real MVP of this team

The most significant thing to come out of this season is that Brian Flores can flat-out coach.

Because that means just about everything moving forward. For Flores to take a team with marginal talent, a team lacking any semblance of depth, a team that started this season epically bad at 0-7 and a team whose roster changed at almost a ridiculous pace, and turn it into something respectable, well, doesn’t that tell you all you need to know about the man in charge?

“When you deal with defeat, it either breaks you or make you stronger,” Flores said. “I think this team got stronger.”

But it wouldn’t have happened without Flores somehow keeping this locker room together, giving these players a sense of purpose and staying even-keeled and focused even in the worst of times. If he can get this out of a team like that, imagine what he can do when the overall talent level is significantly higher.

When this season began, Flores was just another young first-year head coach trying to create a path for himself. Today we know so much more. Today we know that Flores is the right man for this job, and nothing of greater significance could have come out of this season.
