I got so good that fellow pros would mutter sarcastically, “Nice bogey” while my ball was still in flight and headed for jail. They intuitively knew a highlight punch-out was coming. My fans didn’t spend their hard-earned money to watch me take drops, and I don’t recommend it for you, either. I led the tour in Strokes Gained/Punching Out Sideways (SGPOS) eight years in a row. AMATEURS OFTEN STAND OVER THE BALL with their feet too wide apart. I understand the appeal—they want to feel more stable throughout the swing, and a wider stance seems a logical way to achieve that.
