As I walked home from school, I spotted a group of guys ahead, and my heart began pounding.

I knew what was coming…

Sure enough, as I got closer, the stares and jeering started.

‘Wow, look at the jugs on that!’ one lad spat as his friends wolf-whistled.

I kept my eyes fixed firmly to the front and walked as quickly as I could.

It was only when I got home to the safety of my bedroom that I let myself cry.

I was only 13, but not a day went by when I didn’t get at least a couple of unwelcome comments from strangers – all because of my big boobs.

When I say big, I mean massive. I hit puberty at about 12, and the first thing I noticed was I suddenly had breasts when all my school friends were still flat-chested.

My boobs grew rapidly, and, when I went to get measured for my first bra, the fitter said I was a double-D cup.

I was mortified. I wanted boobs – but not that big. Worse, they were still growing.

By 13, I was already a 30F. At 14 I was a 30J, and it was impossible to find a bra to fit, so I had to settle for ones that were too small for me and cut into my skin.

I wanted to wear vest tops and pretty dresses like my friends, but they just looked inappropriate because of my huge chest.

‘Darling, I think we have to be a bit careful with what you wear,’ my mum Sue, now 48, said.

I knew she meant well. No mum wants their teenage daughter to attract the wrong sort of attention.
