My massive surprise!

Sammi had no clue she was having a baby – a 10lb one!

Sitting in the pub, I grabbed a glass of wine and clinked glasses with my fella. Our birthdays were four days apart, so me and Ross, 31, always had a joint celebration.

This year, in August, we’d come on holiday to Point of Ayr Holiday Park, Holywell, with our mates Kirsty, 29, Ian, 28, Cal, 21, and Liv, 20.

Now, in the pub, I was trying to have fun...but I felt rotten with an awful backache.

Soon, I decided to call it a day.

‘I’m going back to the caravan. You guys stay out, I’ll see you later,’ I said.

I wanted to curl up and sleep. But back at the caravan, I was in terrible pain.

I was worried that I had appendicitis.

Ross came back and Iwas doubled over in agony.

‘You need to go to the hospital,’ he told me, worried.

Before we could set off, Kirsty came to our caravan. A trainee nurse, she called NHS 111.

Describing my symptoms to the operator, she paused. ‘Are you pregnant?’ she asked. ‘No way!’ I said. Ross and I had been together for 10 years and said from the start we didn’t want children.

I adored my five nieces and nephews and wasAuntie Sammi to all my friends’ kids.

Anyway, there was no way I was expecting. I’d not long had a period. And I wore the same size-20 jeans as I always did.

Kirsty told the operator, who agreed it sounded like appendicitis. ‘They’re sending an ambulance,’ she told me, hanging up the phone.

Anxious, Ross paced around in the living area.
