ONE OF the dreaded moments in life is when one has to ‘restart’ everything. Just thinking about it can create anxiety. In fact, very often, we make compromise after compromise just to postpone that terrifying moment.
Honestly, rebooting life is something we should all attempt. Not by compulsion but by design.
In my book, The Cave, I speak about two unique incidents in my life that were scary as hell but changed my destiny forever. The first time was when I left the very profitable, thriving, the family business of socks making and decided to become an internet entrepreneur. That too without being a technology person or having any knowledge of coding or software. I was an ordinary M.Com. The second incident was when my thriving Internet business almost crashed and I had to start all over again to survive.
Twenty years later, I’ve never been happier with my two ‘reboot’ moments!
These are the key takeaways and insights I learned along the way:
BEING COMFORTABLE IS A CURSE
The moment you begin to feel comfortable (professionally or personally), I can promise you that it will lead you to a state of complacency and stagnation. From there, it only goes downhill. You have to cultivate the ‘art of being uncomfortable’ to keep growing and thriving.
