IT'S BEEN A ROLLERCOASTER, BUT I'M GLAD TO HAVE BEEN RIDING IT CHRIS MOTIONLESS
The end of all things has been depicted in a million different ways.
Film, music, art, literature, philosophy books. Every medium delivers its own vision of what the world being brought to its knees would (and will look like.
For every tale of demons rising from the seventh circle of hell or four horsemen galloping their way across the skyline, there is a prophecy telling of oceans rising, volcanos erupting, and the earth being coated in a layer of fire and ice. It's the sort of imagery that has followed us throughout our whole lives, that constant threat of the final reckoning and the obliteration of all that we know. But, what if it has already happened in some way? And what if it was taking place inside of us the whole time?
These are things that Chris Motionless has been pondering over the last few years. Taking a step back, looking at what is around him and considering just how it affects the person he is within his head and heart as much as on the outside. Like every other creative, he quickly shifted from full steam ahead to the brakes being firmly on a couple of years back, something Motionless In White had never experienced before. So with all of that extra time, he looked, listened, learned, and considered what all of the chaos meant for him.
The last two years have been a lot to observe and exist within, he comments.
I can't deny that I have been on the fortunate end of everything that has happened, no matter how horrible I feel saying that, but it's the truth. Having the time to be inspired by the world around me has been really cool, for better or worse. I learned a lot of things about myself. I learned a lot about people and humanity. I felt like all of it needed to then be transferred onto this new record that we were working on.”
