'Moral of the story, life's a bit batshit.
On his 2021 Hopeless Records debut, 22-year-old NOAHFINNCE proclaimed those words emphatically, and if there's anyone who seems qualified to make such a statement - it's him.
From family trauma, to leading life in boarding school, and being unable to live as his true self until starting his transition at 18, Noah's time on earth hasn't been smooth-running, a turbulence captured in chaotically candid style on his debut EP, 'STUFF FROM MY BRAIN'.
"I wrote all the songs on 'STUFF FROM MY BRAIN' before I started therapy, and the whole vibe of the EP was summed up in 'LIFE'S A BIT'. Life's a bit batshit, and I've had a weird life," he starts.
"I left boarding school, started testosterone, got my tits chopped off, and now I'm doing music. That all happened in such a small amount of time, and that EP was acknowledging that."
Swirling through another whirlwind year of signing to his dream label, releasing his first EP into the world, and heading out on tour for the first time, amidst the buzz of everything coming his way Noah stopped to take stock of where he was at mentally. "All I was processing was the fact that I was trans, and I thought that after hormones and getting top surgery it would be like, 'That's it, you're a person now'. After the excitement wore off, I was like, 'I have so much trauma that I haven't even begun processing'," he recalls.
"I started going to therapy, and my first therapy session inspired this whole EP." Unpacking the events of his life and coming to realisations about himself in a way he'd never experienced before, Noah began untangling strands within his mind that had sat knotted for the last decade.
