Song that I wrote for Bury Tomorrow
“It was ‘Casting Shapes’, which was the single that came out prior to ‘Portraits’ in 2009. I was 17 when I wrote it, so for me, it was a time to shine. I’ve always loved lyrics and always delved deeper into them than other people would. I wrote the entire song from a metaphorical point of view, which was really cool. It was about a break-up or something very cliché but it came really easily. It was the first song that saw me stepping up as a frontman too, really. It was an affirmation of me becoming what I am today. It became the heaviest song we had at the time - which was pretty great as well.”
…Band I played with
“It was Walls Of Jericho at The Joiners in Southampton. They headlined and we were second on. I can’t really remember much of the actual show so I can’t say what it felt like but they’re one of my favorite bands and were super respectful towards us. We gained a lot of fans and started to carve out our name in Southampton from that show. It was a really good time for the band to have a springboard like that to catapult us forward. I felt really privileged to have a sold-out show with a band like that as my first experience with Bury Tomorrow. That’s when I really got a taste for it.”
