YOU VOTED IN DROVES FOR PALAYE ROYALE FRONTMAN REMINGTON LEITH IN THE ROCK SOUND 50. BUT WHO THE HELL ARE THEY? AND WHY SHOULD ANYONE CARE ABOUT THE SELF-STYLED FASHION-ART ROCK TRIO? GLAD YOU ASKED…
PALAYE ROYALE ARE THE REAL DEAL
The Las Vegas trio have been making waves of late, gaining quite the cult following in the process. And that’s been entirely organic, nothing’s been faked. “Your fans can tell if you’re being genuine or not. It’s really important to stay true to yourself,” explains front man Remington Leith. “What’s the point of doing anything if you’re not being truthful?” nods drummer Emerson Barrett. “There are a lot of fakers out there, but it’s not even necessarily their fault – the machine just wants to create bands that will say what they want them to say.”
THEY’RE BRINGING A SENSE OF DANGER BACK TO ROCK MUSIC
As evidenced on the glam-tinged rock ‘n’ roll excess of debut album ‘Boom Boom Room (Side A)’, the trio are doing something that nobody else in the game is doing right now. “I think modern music is really missing a sense of danger,” reckons Emerson. “A lot of bands today play it safe,” says Remington. “All kids want to be now is famous, rather than being recognised for their talents or art. People like Bowie and The Rolling Stones wore that danger on their sleeve. They looked how they sounded. We definitely want to bring that back.”
IT’S ALL IN THE FAMILY…
