Last April, China moved up to its view of the LAC (Line of Actual Control) in areas like Galwan Valley, Gorga/Hot Springs and the northern bank of Pangong Lake, which triggered a standoff. On June 15, 2020, there was a deadly class between the two nations in the Galwan valley. What is the cause of all these? The root cause of all this is a vague 3,440km long disputed border. It is also seen that both countries are competing to build infrastructure along the LAC, India constructed a new road to a high altitude airbase and it is seen as one of the main reasons for a clash with Chinese troops.
The two countries came face to face in 1962, in which India was handed a humiliating defeat. We can also consider that the face-off was a clash of two titans of Asia. There was a risk of escalation in 2020 after the actions of China and both countries being nuclear powerhouses in the present times, a war now will impact both nations adversely economically.
