From the Six Nations to the Premiership, from the Rugby Championship to the domestic Championship, from Brisbane to Buenos Aires, from the South Sea islands to the Southern Kings…pretty much from top to bottom and side to side, the thing no one has nearly enough of is the only thing that matters.
If ever there was a moment for a rugby reset, beginning with an all stakeholder summit charged with dismantling a laughably outmoded “global” power structure headed by a non-governing governing body riddled with conflicts of interest and replacing it with something more flexible and inclusive, this is it.
As there is no sign of any such enlightened thinking, we can only hope and pray that someone discovers a vaccine for the naked self-interest sweeping through the sport like a virus.
