CAPT TOM'S FINAL LAP

CAPTAIN Sir Tom Moore was given a hero’s send-off as the nation bid him farewell yesterday.

The NHS fundraiser received a 14-gun salute and an RAF flypast as he was laid to rest.

Six soldiers from his Yorkshire Regiment carried his coffin – draped in the Union flag – into Bedford Crematorium for a funeral Capt Sir Tom planned himself.

A C-47 Dakota soared overhead before the service, which was only attended by immediate family in accordance with Covid restrictions.
