Now no free-range eggs after upsurge in bird flu

FREE-range eggs will no longer be available on supermarket shelves from tomorrow.

It comes in the wake of an outbreak of avian flu across the UK since November, which has prevented farmers from keeping birds outdoors.

Shops will now have to put labels on their eggs saying they are “barn eggs”, meaning they were produced by hens homed permanently indoors.
