RUSSIAN troops closed in on Kyiv last night – as Ukraine’s leaders warned them: “This will be your Stalingrad.”
Vladimir Putin’s forces were just 15 miles from the capital, where defiant Ukrainian soldiers have been setting up barricades and tank traps.
Satellite images showed a “death convoy” of armour heading towards the city.
But President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia would have to “raze Kyiv to the ground” before it could take control of the capital. And his presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak vowed: “Kyiv will stand until the end.” MP Sviatoslav Yurash, who is helping with the city’s volunteer defence force, told the Russian army to prepare for heavy losses.
