Elad Eisenstein was appointed Oxford Street district improvement director in October 2020, responsible for a £150 million programme of works including the now notorious tourist attraction.
His pay was even higher than the £217,545 earned by the authority’s chief executive Stuart Love, according to documents revealing the remuneration of the 179 staff on the council’s books earning more than £68,000 a year.
It also dwarfs the £161,401 salary of Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Mr Eisenstein, who was described at the time of his recruitment as “a cities and regeneration expert with two decades of experience” also received a pension contribution of £24,441.
