Union Home Minister Amit Shah was on Tuesday admitted to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, days after he recovered from a COVID-19 infection.
Shah has been “complaining of fatigue and body ache for last three-four days,” the hospital said in a statement.
“He had tested negative for COVID-19. He has been admitted to AIIMS for COVID-19. He is comfortable and is continuing his work from hospital,” AIIMS media and protocol division chairperson Dr Aarti Vij said.
Shah, 55, was under care for COVID at the private Medanta hospital in Gurgaon last week.
On Aug.14 he was tested negative and tweeted he would be in home isolation for a few more days as advised by doctors.
Next day he appeared at the Independence Day celebrations and hoisted the national flag at his official residence.
India had gone into a lockdown over COVID-19, 148 days ago.
The total number of cases have crossed 2.7 million to reach 27,02,743. Over 51,000 people have already died. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday that 55,079 new cases and 876 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
