Hiten Dalal was at the top of his game as the Delhi opener slammed a quickfire century against Rajasthan before lunch on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy elite group A & B virtually dead rubber at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
While Dalal smashed 93-ball 102, middle-order batsmen Himmat Singh (90 off 128) and Jonty Sidhu (90 off 128) missed on a well-deserved hundred to take the home side to 389/6 at the end of day’s play.
Contrary to the previous games where the opening sessions of the Ferozeshah Kotla ground assisted pacers, the pitch seemed to be on the dry side as the new ball came to bat easy. This allowed Dalal to open his arms early in the innings as the Capital team raced to 50 runs in the first 10 overs.
