BAJRANG Punia (65kg) created history on Friday as he became the first Indian wrestler to win three medals from the UWW World Senior Wrestling Championships.
Top seed Punia edged fourth seed Tulga Tumur Ochir of Mongolia 8-7 at Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan to take home the bronze medal to add to the silver he won in 2018 and the bronze in 2013.
The day got even better for the Indian contingent with U-23 World Championships silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya (57kg) adding a bronze to India’s medal tally as well in his debut appearance at this prestigious event.
