WhatsApp on Tuesday further tightened curbs on forwarding of messages on its platform limiting the forwarding of frequently shared messages to just one chat window at a time in order to crack down on the deluge of coronavirus-related misinformation doing the rounds.
“We are now introducing a limit so that these messages can only be forwarded to one chat at a time...we've seen a significant increase in the amount of forwarding which users have told us can feel overwhelming and can contribute to the spread of misinformation,” the popular messaging app said in a blogpost.
This limit will come into place once a message has been previously forwarded five times or more, it said.
