India-A takes on South Africa-A in the first unofficial one-dayer today
South Africa-A’s tour of India holds significant interest for fringe players from both countries to be on their selectors’ radar as the series kicks off with the first ‘unofficial’ one-dayer at the Sports Hub, Kariyavattom, on Thursday.
South Africa-A is essentially a recce party with a handful of experienced internationals who will be testing the conditions in the subcontinent before the series against India in October.
After the retirement of stalwarts Hashim Amla and J.P. Duminy and post the World Cup, South African cricket finds itself in transition. The selectors will be looking keenly at this tour — which comprises five one-dayers and two four-day Tests — to find out players for the future.
