Two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, five security personnel and a civilian were killed in a 56hour encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said here on Sunday.
A police spokesman said the operation in the Babagund area went on for so many hours from Friday morning as the topography posed considerable difficulties to the security forces.
The two militants were killed by security forces, the spokesman said. The bodies were recovered from the site.
