At 142 for six, Delhi was in serious trouble of being forced to followon, trailing Tamil Nadu by 290 runs, with the home team sniffing a chance of pushing for an outright victory, to end its disappointing campaign on a high, on the third day at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium on Wednesday.
Instead, Delhi’s u23 captain Jonty Sidhu, playing in only his fourth Ranji Trophy game, produced a fine unbeaten ton (104 not out, 235, 11x4, 3x6) to bail his side out as the visitors ended the day on 268 for six with only 15 more needed to make TN bat again.
Good support
The 21-year-old was ably supported by Lalit Yadav (65 not out, 143b, 10x4, 1x6) at the other end, with the duo adding 126 runs so far for the seventh wicket.
