At the time of its formation a little over five years ago, not many gave Telangana an outside chance to make it big on the industrial landscape, leave alone turning a strong competitor to industrially developed States.
Moving fast, the K. Chandrasekhar Rao government put in place various measures, setting at rest apprehensions of a flight of capital. One of the key measures was the Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS-iPASS).
At the core of this rather radical system is time-bound clearance for projects. If applications are not approved within a timeframe, the project is deemed to have been approved.
Aiding the State government’s quest for industrial growth was the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s promise of job creation and a keenness to prove the naysayers wrong and Hyderabad’s relatively better infrastructure.
On the move
