Mumbai: Unprecedented drama played out in the city of Manchester throughout Thursday when the Indian team went into a quarantine early morning and canceled a practice session upon being informed that the assistant physiotherapist of the squad, Yogesh Parmar, had tested positive.
The team canceled the scheduled training session at Old Trafford and went into quarantine, while also undergoing RT-PCR tests. The test reports came negative late on Thursday evening, but it was still not confirmed if the Test match would begin at the allotted hour.
BCCI officials were locked in discussions with the team, the team management, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officials until midnight. However, there was still no consensus on the fate of the Test match and whether players – especially the Indian team – would walk out.
