The Present Of Parenthood
Parents World|Issue 69

The best presents sometimes cant be wrapped, as social entrepreneur and supermum Theresa Evanoff would tell you.

The Present Of Parenthood

“happiness is the only thing that multiplies when you share it,” said Albert Schweitzer, and this is particularly true for Theresa Evanoff, founder and CEO of online invitation and gifting platform Gift-It-Forward. Imagine getting to choose your dream birthday gift while giving back to the community – that is how the mother-ofthree hopes to revolutionise gift-giving. Gift-It-Forward allows you to set up a personal gift fund when you send your invitations, where part of the contribution goes to a charity of your choice. Through this, Theresa aims to inculcate in her three boys a spirit of giving – individuals who are socially conscious and look to make a difference to the world around them.

Describe what kind of mum you are.

A very busy one! With three young kids and a start-up, we are on the go all the time. I try to be organised about it by pre-planning meals and coordinating schedules, and it certainly keeps me on my toes. But I’m passionate about so many things, especially my children, so I hope they see that too.

What is your favourite part about being a mum?

The unconditional love and all the big hugs and kisses from little people.

Share with us the best advice you’ve received on being a parent.

I love the saying, “The days are long, but the years are short”, so cherish every moment. Although there are many days where the challenges seem overwhelming (the sleepless nights, the never-ending fights, the crazy tantrums), when you look back, it passes in the blink of an eye.

Between running a business and being a mother, which is more challenging?
