Hey Erika. Where in the world are you right now and what are you working on?
I've spent the past two weeks at home in Prague after doing a photo tour in Budapest. My next destination is Israel to photograph in the Negev desert for a few days, and I will be leading tours in Seychelles and the Faroe Islands in the upcoming months too.
Tell us about your journey in photography. What made you start shooting professionally?
My photographic journey started in 2012 when circumstances allowed me to escape the corporate life and follow my dream of travelling the world. I bought my first DSLR camera and began to document my travel experiences. I attended workshops at home and abroad to improve my skills. In 2015, I became self-employed and started to work on photography projects for clients and sell my prints.
What was your first camera and what kit do you shoot with now?
My first camera was the Canon EOS 450D with a Tamron zoom lens. I stayed loyal to Canon and after owning a few DSLRs, I've upgraded to Canon's full-frame mirrorless system and I'm a total convert. I currently have the 45MP Canon EOS R5, as well as the EOS Ra, which is more specialised for astrophotography, and I also own several Canon L series RF lenses, from wide-angle to telephoto, covering 15mm ultra-wide-angle to 500mm telephoto.
What are your typical camera settings and techniques?
