The bright Arctic sun reflecting off the fresh ice and snow, a breathtaking and unforgiving landscape. My ski goggles are welded to my face, protecting my eyes from the blinding light, whilst simultaneously crushing my glasses into my head. Below, my beard has developed a crisp feeling, the moisture of my breath getting caught up in my balaclava and has frozen the hairs in place. Having been on the back of a snowmobile for the past three hours I’m starting to feel it in my feet, my toes developing those first signs of numbness. My hands, however, are still warm. It’s a mixture of liner gloves and mitts keeping them toasty and, in the process, helping them to maintain a vice-like grip on a pre-production sample of the new Nikon Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S that’s resting on my lap…
