1. Game of Tones
BY PAWEL ZYGMUNT
The Dark Hedges is a corridor of gnarled trees in Northern Ireland’s county Antrim. The photography hotspot has garnered additional fame as the Kingsroad in hit television series Game of Thrones. This month’s winning image was shot 30 minutes after sunrise – just as the morning light illuminated the beeches. The portrait orientation conveys the might of the twisted trees, and the autumnal leaves complement the golden light. A thin mist adds to the road’s enchanting aesthetic. All of these elements combine to create a truly stunning image.

2. Train Kept a Rollin’
BY PETE BRISTO
Great steam train photos feature a giant plume of steam, and this image doesn’t disappoint. The colder months are the best time to capture billowing steam and by shooting ‘The Jacobite’ exiting a tunnel, the cloud has been amplified tenfold. If we captured a photograph this good we’d be chuff, chuff, chuffed to bits!
Camera: Nikon D850
Lens: 24-120mm f/4
Exposure: 1/500 sec, f/4, ISO800
