Dave Barham reveals the latest masterpiece to hit the UK from Turkish gunsmiths Kral

Super Sexy Stock!

No apologies for the sudden glut of Turkish rifles featuring in the pages of Air Gunner, lately, and I simply cannot ignore another little gem from Kral. Not only does it shoot beautifully, but the walnut stock is a thing of real beauty, and all for just £625.

As it turned out, this rifle arrived on my desk at a most opportune time, because I was due a visit to my Mum’s new house and she’d called me the previous day informing me that there was a rogue squirrel stealing all the bird seed from her feeders, as well as a crafty rat that was scooping up the loose offerings from the ground below. I’d arranged to pop round for a bit of ‘pest control’, and the Puncher was coming with me!

THIRSTY WORK!

This rifle comes supplied in a hard case, and once you open the lid to reveal the prize inside you’re instantly greeted with a rather magnificent view of the genuine Turkish walnut stock.

I could tell in a heartbeat that this recently shaped wood was thirsty – it was crying out for some TLC and a drink of pure walnut oil. After a liberal splash, an hour of soaking and then a quick buff up it really did the trick and allowed the wood to shine. I’m most impressed, it’s a beautiful piece of wood especially for an ‘off the shelf’ rifle.

The ergonomics of the pistol grip and ‘open thumbhole’ design are amazing, and Kral has even provided two recessed thumb rest positions atop the pistol grip.

It’s a chunky piece of wood that has been beautifully shaped, with bumps and recesses in all the right places – the stippling effect on the underside of the fore grip is also some of the best I have seen. I also love how thay have carved out the trigger guard and made it part of the stock, too - that’s really classy.
