Contador's team signs two Brits

Alberto Contador’s Eolo- Kometa team has signed two British riders to bolster its 2021 line-up. Time trial and track force John Archibald will leave the domestic scene to join the Italian-registered squad alongside Canyon-DHB rider Mark Christian, who is also making the step back up to the ProTeam ranks.

Both signings came about because British racing legend Sean Yates was appointed as the team’s sports director earlier this month.

“It’s a great step up for me,” Archibald said. “Yatesy got in touch with Emily [Meakin, my partner] actually. Emily used to be coached by Sean Yates and they still keep in touch. He asked her if I’d be interested and put a good word in for me.” He said Yates had tried to do the same thing the year before but had less influence.
