MacKenzie breaks 19-year-old Lejog record

Scot returns to break record she fell short of two years ago, reports Chris Marshall-Bell

Two years after stating she wouldn’t repeat her attempt to break the women’s Land’s End to John o’ Groats record, Christina MacKenzie last week obliterated the previous best time that had stood for almost two decades.

The Scotswoman rode the length of the country, all 839 miles of it, in a time of 51 hours, five minutes and five seconds – smashing Lynne Taylor’s 2002 record by 1:40.06. MacKenzie improved on her 2019 effort by more than four hours.
