The 2023 IPL auction will take place in Kochi on December 23. Unlike the previous season's megaauction in February, the BCCI will conduct a miniauction for the forthcoming season. Ahead of the auction, all ten franchises released a list of players they retained and released from the squad. A total of 85 players were released ahead of the auctions, and some of the big names include Mayank Agarwal, Kane Williamson, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Pat Cummins. While the players mentioned above are likely to receive heavy cash in the auction, several players fear going unsold. 5. MOHAMMAD NABI: Kolkata Knight Riders bought Mohammad Nabi for one crore in the mega-auctions but released the 37-year-old ahead of the auction. Nabi did not play any match in the 2022 edition and failed to create an impact for Afghanistan in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup. After a poor performance in the World Cup, Nabi stepped down as Afghanistan captain and is unlikely to be bought by any franchise for the coming season. Nabi has played 17 matches in the IPL since 2017. He has amassed 180 runs and picked up 13 wickets. The former Afghani captain made his IPL debut for SRH and switched teams when KKR bought him last year.
