Ravindra Jadeja's Lean Patch Hurting Team India

The management has been left in a fix about his falling batting ability. For a team, who is still searching for a genuine allrounder, his mediocre performance is a setback.

The role of all-rounder is very important in cricket as this sort of a player gives his/her team a flexibility in choosing the squad. If an all-rounder is able to make a contribution with bat and ball, it is the best thing to happen for a team but if the contribution comes in form of bowling or batting, even it is termed satisfactory. Ben Stokes is the leading all-rounder in world cricket, who is contributing across formats since the last few seasons. When he is around, the English team is never out of the contest. When it comes to Team India, the same responsibility was entrusted on Ravindra Jadeja, who was expected to become of the best in business. It is not that he didn’t show any promise but with passage of time, the talent has faded and diminished in the shorter formats. He is doing fine in Test cricket, scoring runs and taking wickets. The last few series played in India have been exception for him but a lot is left to prove outside the home territory especially the subcontinent. Calling him a complete player in Test matches still need sometime.
