Last Sunday’s game against Arsenal was a new one for Everton’s Chaney Boye-Hlorkah, as the forward found herself in the unfamiliar position of right-back against the Gunners – but caught the eye in the 2-0 defeat.
We sat down with the RTC graduate to see how she found the experience and why confidence is strong within the group despite a challenging start to the new WSL 1 campaign.
Chaney, how did you find playing at right-back?
It’s a new one for me! I found it hard at times but I just had to concentrate more on my defensive duties. I hadn’t really done that before – obviously as a winger you cover your full-back but this was different. I’m still getting used to the position.
Over time I’ll understand when I can play forward, when I can run with the ball and things like that. You have to always have in your mind that if the attack breaks down you have to get back.
