Derek, you attended the Everton Former Players’ Foundation Christmas Lunch recently, which is a lovely afternoon…

The EFPF is superb. I always say that it helped put me in touch with people I used to watch from the terraces, people my dad used to talk about and I wish my dad was alive now because I could have introduced him to people like Alex Young and, before they passed away, the likes of Gordon West and Brian Labone. But it’s great to see the players. Some of them aren’t in the best of health but the Foundation raises money to help them – be it financially or for medical care or with whatever else. It’s a great charity and we love getting together when we can.
