Nestled in Burlington, North Carolina – about an hour west of Raleigh, and maybe a little longer for riders battling traffic on Friday nights – Burlington BMX has been all about family, friends and good competition since 1985.

From the parents in charge to the grandparents and relatives in the stands, family influence has kept the wheels turning at Burlington BMX for 35 years.

Thanks to a core group of volunteers supporting Track Operator Paul Constantino, Burlington has seen a spike in interest and rider turnout in recent years. From 2017 to 2019, the track’s membership has grown exponentially, swelling from 60 to 152 riders – an increase of nearly 250 percent.

Effective membership drives, rider clinics, racing leagues and social media initiatives have certainly helped pique interest. As a result, today’s weekday practices regularly outdraw the track’s race day turnout from just three years ago. Even the track’s impromptu January racing series – thanks, good weather! – averaged nearly 30 motos of riders anxious to put in winter laps. (It was great to see so many Burlington riders turn those laps into podiums at the 2020 Blue Ridge Nationals in Virginia.)
