AS teenagers, Reilly Opelka and Tommy Paul roomed together at a USTA training facility. It was an experience that would foreshadow a more extended living arrangement between two close friends.
When Paul needed a place to train after packing up in Orlando, Opelka encouraged his buddy to drop by his Delray Beach home for as long as he needed. Paul hasn’t left since.
“Reilly was like, ‘stay the whole time,’” he explains.
Their schedules don’t always sync up, but when they do, the young Americans savor the simplicity of sharing food and getting away from the tour grind— something any roomates, pro tennis players or not—can appreciate.
