England’s struggles at the top of the order continued during the series defeat to West Indies in the Caribbean with the likes of Keaton Jennings, Rory Burns, Joe Denly, Jonny Bairstow and even captain Joe Root all having occupied at least one of the top three positions since Alastair Cook retired last September. Now, Bayliss has admitted that places are up for grabs ahead of a busy Ashes summer with Roy and Vince firmly on the selectors’ radar.
Surrey opener Roy has been a regular in England’s one-day squads over the past four years, but is yet to earn a Test cap.
