RANGANA Herath became the first left-arm spinner to pass 400 Test wickets in Sri Lanka’s first Test victory over Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
The 39-year-old was not the only one celebrating as Sri Lanka busted a nine-game losing streaking to the relief of captain Dinesh Chandimal.
“As a team, we were below par in our performances (against India), but we have waited for this win and finally we got it. Credit goes to all the players,” Chandimal said after scoring 155 in the first innings.
“Everyone put their heart and soul into the practices, and the management put lots of hard work in.”
Herath proved to be the match winner by taking 6-49 when Pakistan were chasing 136 for victory, a performance that was lauded by his captain.
