We’re Right Behind You! Trust Jeetan To Lead Us, Says Trott
JONATHAN Trott has urged Warwickshire's players to get behind new captain Jeetan Patel as the Bears begin their Division Two campaign with a tough match against Sussex at Edgbaston.
Warwickshire find themselves in the second tier of the County Championship for the first time in ten years after a lack of runs led to them finishing bottom of the top flight, well adrift of the rest, in 2017.
Former England batsman Trott finished the campaign as skipper after Ian Bell relinquished the captaincy with a month of the season left so he could focus on his batting.
For the same reason, the 36- year-old has stepped aside this year to allow ex-New Zealand spinner Patel the honour of leading the Bears in the County Championship and the One-Day Cup.
Reflecting on his time with the armband, Trott said: “It was challenging, obviously, taking over at a time when we were bottom and trying to lift us up.
