Keep warm, save money and take full control of your heating by upgrading your home with a smart thermostat system.
OF ALL THE different varieties of smart kit that are available, it’s arguably the smart thermostat that makes the most amount of sense for most people. As well as making life more convenient for you, smart thermostats are also capable of saving you a considerable amount of money. In fact, according to Tado, UK users save around 19% of energy bills by upgrading to a smart thermostat.
Getting the right model for you isn’t always easy, but we’ll take you through all of the options here to help you make the best choice for your home.
ROOM MATES
The main decision you have to make is whether you want a device that replaces your existing thermostat, or one that can control individual radiators using smart valves that replace your existing thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs). The former is far simpler, as you have a single thermostat that controls the temperature for your entire home.
The downside of this type of system is that temperatures can vary massively across a home. So if you set your thermostat for a comfortable temperature in the lounge, for instance, your bedroom may be very cold.
However, you can still make good energy savings with a replacement thermostat, and this type of system is considerably cheaper.
